1 Introduction
Because of its slightly risque language, we haven’t actually used our I’m The Suburban Geek ad. for advertising purposes – I’m not convinced that it would pass Google or Facebook’s “family” settings! Still, it’s pretty mild sexual innuendo – you can encounter a lot worse on TV – and the concept kinda amused me.
NOTE 1: The apocalyptic illustration that the ad’s promoting is caricature of my son, Mhoram. FYI, there a little bit more INFO about him at Watching My Children Grow.

6 I’m The Suburban Geek Lyrics
SPOKEN: Oh yeah, some folks have asked about the man behind the brand, Suburban Geek, so, here’s how it is!
SUNG: Well, I don’t see Life the way
Most people seem to do
I’m kinda upside down and inside out
Like old King Arthur’s fool
I see the world turnin’
But it’s goin’ the wrong way
“Hey, stop this thing
Let me get off
Before I go insane!”
I’m the Suburban Geek
From Australia
SPOKEN: Oh yeah, you know, like Olivia Newton John, from Grease
Now, I’m not one of them old guys
Who always clings to the past
I’m a post-modern artist
Although a real pain
In the Ass
I’m the Suburban Geek
I’m the Suburban – wave my freak flag high
I’m the Suburban – I’ll be laughing until I die

I’m The Suburban Geek was recorded a few years ago for me by a Canadian musician going by the name of Shawn, who provided both the vocals and the crunching, Stadium Rock, backing track. I’m sure that Shawn must have sung professionally for years – his vocals are effortless! He also went by the name of Whitehorse, so I’ve added that to his name if any Canucks want to trace him.
I guess I’m The Suburban Geek is the perfect radio-friendly introduction to Suburban Geek – that’s where my love affair with Pop Music began and over more than half a century, there’s no sign of it diminishing!
The Clay Animation music video was produced & directed by Superdaddy TV
The background behind the slightly insane robot in the SELL section is Pier, used with a Creative Commons license
The robot’s voice was provided by the utterly fantastic, Fantastic Voice-overs
The background music, Who Cares, has a CC0 license, having been released before 1923
The image of Edvard Munch’s The Scream & the Lady’s Scream, both used in the OUTRO, have CC0 licenses
8 And Finally

I can’t say that I’ve ever pondered a parallel career as a Heavy Metal rocker but I jumped at the chance to have I’m The Suburban Geek performed Heavy Metal-style. Coincidentally, it was by another Canadian, Mitch Miller. Mitch had to play with the lyrics a little to fit the meter and since there was one problematic section, I added the lyric about the imaginary, antipodean viking, Vandor! Apologies, I don’t have a link for Mitch!
Out of the blue, Hexbass, from Zephyr Hills, Florida offered to make a super-amateur Heavy Metal music video for me, miming – as a singing bass player. Well, the kook in me couldn’t pass that up and though the resultant music video certainly is ridiculous – arguably the worst I’ve ever seen – but it’s still lots of fun. You can find I’m The Suburban Geek Heavy Metal Version posted at the EXTRAS playlist on the Suburban Geek Youtube Channel.
